Blog posts are nice for long-form development of thoughts, but they aren’t quite fit for short thoughts, questions, or opinions. So for those, I scribble them down here (and have my most recent scribble on the front page of my website). Since my website is designed to be seen mostly by either myself, or those personally close to me, this isn’t designed to be necessarily a Twitter-like back and forth. That said, if you’re reading this you likely have my phone number. If I’ve written something that can spur a conversation between us, text me! (or talk to me in person, or if it is a dire need you can technically call me)
Scribble List
November 29, 2025 – Between Halloween, Night of Thanks at church, Thanksgiving, and our first real snowfall of the year, I’ve really enjoyed spending so much time behind the camera!
October 26, 2025 – We went to our first Renaissance Faire yesterday, and had a lot of fun, outside of one event that really tried to push LGBT nonsense hard. We just got up and walked out. Christ is King.
September 14, 2025 – It’s been a few days since Charlie Kirk was assassinated. I am still angry. I am still disgusted by many in this world. But I am also emboldened to take my responsibilities more seriously.
September 10, 2025 – I feel so sick right now. It’s one thing to attempt to murder a politician, wicked as that act would be. But Charlie Kirk was a non-combatant. He just had good faith discussion with those who disagreed with him. And they assassinated him for it. I’m sick. And angry. And despaired. Christ is King. This I know. But beyond that? I’m not so sure.
August 28, 2025 – Getting back to this website after a detour and a long break. Fall is coming, and it is beautiful. Much has changed this summer, and I hope the next few months are a respite of peace.
June 26, 2025 – Well, for the first time in almost half a decade, I am on the job hunt. Yet I am so aware of the goodness of God in this. May He receive all the glory!
June 21, 2025 – Yesterday I finished Final Fantasy XV! Now to read the novel and put this good-but-incomplete story to rest.
June 16, 2025 – Ended up unintentionally taking the last few days of my photo challenge off. Oh well, I’m jumping back in today.
June 11, 2025 – Wisdom failed to steer the SBC this year. God have mercy, and may His Kingdom flourish in spite of the Southern Baptist Convention.
June 10, 2025 – I’m glad that the first two motions of the SBC were to codify the Law Amendment and to abolish the ERLC. Praying that wisdom will prevail among Baptists over the next couple days.
June 8, 2025 – My wife finished her Spartan race yesterday and I am so proud of her! And for me, I’m excited that I’ve gained a few pounds of muscle and lost a few pounds of fat over the last two weeks! My body recomp plan is working better than I thought!
June 5, 2025 – Man, this Switch 2 is sleek! And Breath of the Wild looks so much better than it ever has! While it’ll still be awhile before I get a proper Switch 2 game (looking at you, Metroid Prime 4!), this has been a great experience so far.
June 4, 2025 – Tomorrow, Lord willing, I will be playing Breath of the Wild in 4K60 on the Nintendo Switch 2!
June 2, 2025 – One week in, and I’m rocking my fitness goals! Consistency is the name of the game. Be consistent, or be nothing.
May 23, 2025 – 75 Hard ends tomorrow! Yet it is merely the opening act. Lord’s Day break and then Monday… strength training begins!
May 19, 2025 – I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me, but just about two more weeks until I can start my photo challenge! I miss uncommodified photography.
May 1, 2025 – So excited for June to get my Switch 2 and get back into Breath of the Wild in 4K60! My kids are too, but mostly so that they can get my Switch 1. In the meantime, these Virtual Game Cards have been pretty helpful over the last day or so!
March 18, 2025 – The problem with trying to take the Christian Sabbath more seriously is that you spend the rest of the week waiting for Sunday to come!
March 10, 2025 – Today begins a fresh round of 75 Hard, and this time the whole family is joining us!
February 28, 2025 – KingdomSpot is dead. I spent a lot of time, money, and effort building something, and it is gone. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
February 20, 2025 – Man, I am really enjoying Wilson’s Same-Sex Mirage. It is the book I really wish I had 8 years ago, because it really speaks to some views I held back in 2016 and 2017. Now to the overthrow of Obergefell!
February 11, 2025 – Over the weekend I brought in a decent sized CD haul. Gotta get that collection rebuilt, and in greater numbers!
January 24, 2025 – I’ve felt really off this week. I wonder how much of that is me, and how much of that is news overconsumption due to the sheer overwhelming amount of winning happening this week! Either way, I’m gonna need a news break before too long.
January 21, 2025 – So long and good riddance, Usurper King Biden. I’m not sure what I’m happier about: Trump being President, or Biden not being President!
January 7, 2025 – One week in, and the year is off to a great start! I’m about ready to start bringing up KingdomSpot to fellow PRC members, and my goals are progressing nicely given a week!
December 30, 2024 – Last week I did my Annual Review, and you have no idea just how pumped I am for 2025! This year, Lord willing, is going to be a game-changer!
December 19, 2024 – And Final Fantasy VII is done! Great fight against Sephiroth, and pretty tough for the mode I was in. Now to hopefully watch FFVII: Advent Children this weekend!
December 17, 2024 – In addition to getting close to finishing actual, you know, productive goals, I am also nearing the end of my first playthrough of Final Fantasy VII! If all goes well, I’ll make the jump to Final Fantasy XV in the new year!
November 27, 2024 – Our family is so close to finishing The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, my favorite book in the Narnia series. Farewell, dear mouse.
November 12, 2024 – One year ago today, I preached my final sermon as a pastor, and resigned from the pastorate. While it hurt a lot then, and still does hurt a bit now, my family is in a place so much better it’s crazy.
November 6, 2024 – I am no longer proud to be a Missourian. A nation that enshrines in its central document a ‘right’ to murder is not one to be proud of. I hope one day Missouri will shed its bloodthirsty ways. In the meantime, however, I celebrate the close of Biden-Harris tyranny. 75 days until President Trump resumes his service!
November 4, 2024 – Yesterday was the final Sunday before the election. Surely many churches were filled with empassioned pleas to vote, and Peine had some of that. But what was primary was the regular expository preaching of the Gospel, which just so happened to be of the overarching Kingship of Christ, and that final day when true and lasting judgment comes, and true and lasting salvation comes. Praise God for His kindness!
October 31, 2024 – 507 years ago today, the nails were hammered into the coffin of Roman Catholic tyranny over over the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Praise God for His works! The Reformation continues!
October 29, 2024 – It’s been a year since I made a very important decision. I am so blessed to be surrounded by people who are truly invested in me and my good, and I in them. Even something as simple as some stylistic choices that I always felt judged about, I can finally enjoy without judgment!
October 22, 2024 – Played Shadow Generations this morning! Super fun, but I’m so used to Sonic Frontiers that the button shifts trip me up sometimes. But I’m thoroughly enjoying it thus far!
October 21, 2024 – I’ve always been more a fan of ownership rather than leasing/streaming. My wife gave me a DAP (think MP3 Player but better audio quality) as a super early Christmas present, and I’m loving it! All my music I actually own in my pocket, with just enough friction to bring back that mid-2000’s magic!
October 15, 2024 – It is such a blessing to be a member of a church that is consistently demonstrating loving Christian community. Even better when you can detox from social media and spend more time investing in others (something I still need to improve on a lot!)
October 9, 2024 – Man, Prime Day is not good for my bank account. Not that we don’t make things work but oof!
October 4, 2024 – Tonight is for the boys! At Peine, at least. Excited to go camping on the PRC property with the men, and in the highly unlikely event someone sees this scribble today, I hope to see you there!
October 1, 2024 – Our family is starting to work on our next video project! If all goes well, it should be our biggest, highest quality video yet!
September 30, 2024 – If Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom have taught me anything, it’s to explore as much of the map as possible before hitting the main story. I have so many echoes I probably shouldn’t have 😆
September 27, 2024 – Just got The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom yesterday and gave it a shot this morning. I’ve quite enjoyed it the little bit I’ve played it. It’s very interesting to revisit Hyrule once again!
