Christ-honoring slowness, simplicity, and service

Personal

Latest Scribble:

Well, for the first time in almost half a decade, I am on the job hunt. Yet I am so aware of the goodness of God in this. May He receive all the glory! – June 26, 2025

This website was once purely a personal project. But as I started my business, I needed to frontload my portfolio and writing offerings. However, I still see the value of having a personal website, and so this page will serve as something of a hub of my personal online presence. If you’re coming over here from the business side, hopefully this will help you see what kind of person I am (and in today’s AI-dominated world, that I am, in fact, a person!)

About Me

As a Christian man, I can separate my roles into five distinguishable, yet often overlapping, spheres: Prince, Protector, Provider, President, and Person.

In 2009, the Lord saw fit to rescue me out of the domain of darkness, and He transferred me into the Kingdom of His Son. As such I stand a Prince, alongside all other princes and princesses, vice-regents, kings and queens in waiting for the new heavens and the new earth. But until then, let’s use more grounded, this-side-of-eternity language. I am a Christian, Baptist by tradition, 1689 by confession. I graduated from Hannibal LaGrange University back in 2011, and have continued my learning ever since. I spent five years as a pastor in a church in St. Charles, and am now blessed to be a Covenant Member at Peine Ridge Church in Wentzville, Missouri.

As the man of my house, I am responsible for protecting those under my care from outside threats, be they physical or cultural, whether they intrude at night through the windows, or during the day on our television. It requires wisdom, strength, and skill, always in prayer.

I am the primary provider of my family, seeking to earn money through technical writing. We are semi-homesteaders, seeking a balance between an off-gridable life and enjoyment of modern technology, all on a quarter-acre.

I am the head of my household, and thus preside over it. I have enjoyed 16 years of marriage with my wife, Samantha. We’ve had difficulties and hardship, but many more years of blessing and joy. We have four children: Sarah (age 13), Hezekiah (age 11), Esther (age 9), and Joshua (age 6). We homeschool our kids doing our best to model faithfulness and repentance to them, striving to give them a joy-filled childhood where we laugh and worship together as a family around the dinner table.

Lastly, I am a Person, and by that I mean I still have my own life to live in addition to my roles and responsibilities to my family and church. Though I do not nearly have as much time as I used to, I do enjoy the occasional videogame, and am currently slowly making my way through Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch 2. I also enjoy photography, and making short films and cinematics. I am learning to live with the seasons, and adjusting my productivity to match my natural ebb and flow. In addition, I am always reading a book or three (you can see on the home page what I am currently reading, and what I have recently finished).

I am a Patriot, a Missourian and American, well regarding the original views of the Union and its Constitution (both of which having been horribly mangled by modern nationalism). Depending on how you would define the term, I would admit to being a Christian Nationalist. The “Fly the Christian flag above the American flag” kind, not the “whites are best, let’s put swastikas everywhere” kind. That kind is gross.

Sermons

Below is a collection of the sermons I preached during my time as a pastor. I hope they will be a blessing to you!

Blog

I occasionally write posts that don’t quite fit within a technical writing framework. You can find them here.

Links

Yes, it is no longer 2001. But as a believer in an internet of the people that sees our modern reliance on algorithms as a bug and not a feature, I have placed a few links that are human-approved here.

Scribbles

You may have seen a tweet-like post at the top of this page. I call these Scribbles, and I collect them here.
